Cellulite Removal Methods: Kim Kardashian Admits to Cellulite Removal with VelaShape

  • Sharebar

The first step on the way to cellular removal is admitting that you have a cellular problem.

And by the way, experiencing problems with cellulite has nothing to do with being overweight or being a woman (although women do tend to have it more often than men). It’s a whole different condition, and anybody can have it.

It affects skinny people, as well as overweight people, men and women, fit people and couch potatoes.

It affects actresses, celebrities, and TV personalities.

Of course they do have to worry about it much more than those of us without the celebrity status!

So here is a video of Kim Kardashian having her cellulite removed.

(If you don’t know who Kim Kardashian is – don’t worry. Neither did I. I just found her video of about this topic and I thought I post it on this blog.)

So, first of all, in my humble opinion, her cellulite problem is really not that serious.

But still, being a celebrity and getting ready for a “hot” photoshoot, she decided to do something about it.

Here is what she said on her blog:

In order to make this the hottest shoot ever, I had to get in shape! I worked out like crazy. It felt good… but then, my sisters and I went to the American Laser Center for our usual laser hair removal (I recommend this to everyone as well!) and the nurse informed us of a cellulite treatment called VelaShape.

Two months ago my sisters and I visited the American Laser Center and did a VelaShape treatment, and we filmed the entire process!

Of course, now that the episode is about to air, the American Laser Center released a press statement saying we went there for the treatment, and now everyone is assuming I am secretly hurt by Paris’ comments about me having cellulite and I am now rushing to try to do anything I can to get rid of it!

Well of course that is not the case! This treatment was done months before her joking around and I wouldn’t have filmed the process if this was something I was insecure or embarrassed about!

So she went for a Velashape cellulite removal treatment, and she recorded the whole process.

(By the way she is not the only celebrity who used that procedure.)

So, what is Velashape?

According to the VelaShape website, it is “the only FDA cleared device that effectively and safely contours, shapes and slims the body by reducing cellulite and firming problem areas in as little as 4 treatments.” The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved VelaShape (and its earlier incarnation, VelaSmooth) for the treatment of cellulite on the thighs.

It is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for cellulite that consists of 3 components, which together have been shown to be effective in tightening and smoothing skin: radiofrequency energy (RF), infrared light energy, and mechanical vacuum massage.

The heat from the RF and infrared light elements of the device stimulate the energy “trapped” in the skin’s adipocytes (the medical term for fat cells), causing them to gradually shrink. Those are the cells, of course, that form cellulite, so as they shrink, so do the unwanted pockets of cellulite, improving the skin’s contour.

While VelaShape’s heat works on reducing the fat cells, the device’s mechanical rollers manipulate and smooth out the skin.

In addition to minimizing the appearance of cellulite dimpling, the procedure is said to reduce the circumference of the treated thighs—by an average of about an inch (!).

Cellulite Removal with VelaShape: Does it Really Work?

When looking at the procedure you will notice that Kim is not experiencing any pain or discomfort – so that’s good. It looks like she is getting a deep tissue massage.

But does it really do anything to her skin?

Well, apparently it takes multiple sessions and a period of recovery, so to see a significant reduction in cellulite you will need to wait a couple of weeks or even months.

In our instant gratification culture, people want immediate results. One of the most common questions people ask about this procedure is “How soon before I see a difference?” The answer: Gradual improvement can be seen following the first treatment. The skin feels smoother, firmer and tighter. Results will be best after 6-8 weeks following the final treatment session. In clinical studies conducted by Syneron, patients reported average of one-half to three inches circumferential reduction.

Ok. But how much does Velashape cost?

The procedure is expensive. You are looking at anywhere from $500 to $2000, depending on the amount of treatments and where you get the work done. Remember, this is YOUR money, because its not covered by insurance.

And, of course, as all other cellulite treatments, this one too offers only a temporary solution. To minimize the appearance of orange skin, you need to make sure you follow healthful lifestyle habits. By exercising regularly and eating nutritiously you can keep unwanted fat—and the cellulite that accompanies it—off your body.

Even Kim admits on her blog: “I work out extremely hard and am happy with my shape… cellulite, not so much! Some things are just genetic and no matter how much working out you do, it just doesn’t help! ”

And it really shows – she has a great body, cellulite or not!
